Major special attractions North Northeast Thailand – Chiang Mai. Chiang Rai, Phu Chi Fa, Doi Phu Lang Ka.
We focus on the relatively remote locations with away from the highway, which has not yet been found in large numbers of tourists spoiling the Thai experience, completely …
Important points before we’ll be off:
Safety: All I repeat to all my friends and family before departure – the most important thing is the return from the trip in the evening the hotel / home safe and sound.
Season – Phu Chi Fa – all year but look more impressive in the rainy season in October until December.
Doi Phu Lang Ka– the rainy season in October until December. The falls are dry the rest of the year (dry waterfall really are less interesting … post pictures of the falls are from the visitor center area) and the site is actually closed.
Transportation: I – by car. Good roads, signs need to improve, and so the lighting of roads at dark.
Thai daytime drivers are courteous, good and thoughtful. But the statistics of death in road accidents shows a 10-fold than in Israel! My explanation is dangerous driving drunk of any kind during the night and early morning. Another danger, the Chinese drivers has are arriving to the area in their cars (fancy and upgraded usually) and their driving is wild, uninhibited and extremely dangerous.
These sites are on the border of Laos, east of Chiang Rai.
Phu Chi Fa is impressive and striking rock altitude 1628 m controls the Mekong Valley with impressive views throughout the day and very popular at sunrise and sunset.
The village at the foot of the sit
e / park. There are plenty of guest houses in the mountain village with landscape views. The Phu Chi Fa rock is about three
Km from the village.
Two kilometers further on very steep road to the upper parking lot. Another 760 m walking uphill rocky steep for experienced hikers for about 20 minutes. There is an alternative path easier hundred yards from the start of the increase, with a sign in Thai by a tree – Take the left. But the beautiful scenery is on the right path.
If you want to experience the sunrise (highly recommended) check with the locals what time it is recommended. You can rent a ride back and forth with the locals to the upper parking lot at 60 baht per person. Get equipped with appropriate clothing. This high peak with strong winds is much colder than the village.
Buy a flashlight – 35 Baht. Take a local guide (boy or girl – Tip 20 to
50 baht).
Although uncomplicated way so there is no need for training, (especially if you don’t speak Thai…) but the experience was fun to hear the singing during the walking uphill.
On the attached map, right next to the red arrow is Phu Chi Fa . I marked blue marker underneath the Phu Chi Fa . If you’re Chiang Rai, it is better to go through Thoeng.
